Illusion Stitch Pattern

This design is different from our other samples because it uses a small design that can be repeated across the knitting as often as you wish.
It is based on a drawing of garter stitch that I did more than twenty years ago for the original Woolly Thoughts book. I later adapted it for use as a screen print and later still it became a piece of illusion knitting.
The square in the photo is 80 stitches wide. The repeat is 29 stitches wide and 20 ridges high. The pattern has charts for both.
The square measures about 40 cm (16”) and takes approximately 120 metres (130 yards) DK in each of two colours. One repeat is about 15 cm (6”) by 10 cm (4”) and takes 12 metres (14 yards) of each.
