Ilse headband
Ilse headband is worked in the round, in one piece.
The headband consists of three layers. The project starts with the middle layer (stockinette stitch, wool yarn only), followed by the outer layer (stockinette stitch, both yarns held together).
The stitches are then worked together with the cast-on edge.
The inner layer is worked in ribbing and sewn to the inside of the headband (the seam is not visible from the RS).
SIZES: 1 (2, 3, 4, 5).
To fit head circumference: 52–53 (54–55, 56–57, 58–59, 60–61) cm.
Finished width: 22.5 (23.5, 24, 25, 26) cm. Height: 8 (8.5, 8.5, 9, 9) cm.
GAUGE: 24 sts x 36 rows = 10 x 10 cm, worked in the round in stockinette stitch with two strands (one strand of each yarn) held together, on the larger needles.
YARN: Isager Tweed (70% wool, 30% mohair. 200m/50g): 1 hank
– or approx. 150 (160, 170, 180, 190) m of a similar wool yarn,
Sandnes Garn Tynn Silk Mohair (57% mohair, 28% silk, 15% wool. 212m/25g): 1 skein
– or approx. 110 (120, 130, 140, 150) m of a similar silk mohair yarn.
NEEDLES: 3 mm (US2.5) circular needles 40 cm/16” for stockinette stitch – or a needle size that gives the correct gauge.
2.5 mm (US1.5) circular needles 40 cm/16” for ribbing.
NOTIONS: Stitch marker, tapestry needle. Optional: Elastic thread.
