I'm Batman
With “I’m Batman”, you have the option of a shallow or deeper shawl version to choose from, the deeper shawl offering basic lacework at the bottom section. They both start at the neck, where contrasting garter lines are followed by the web-like filler fabric. Because the rows begin and end at the center for Section 1, the yarn at rest is carried down, thus no breaking or weaving in of ends in this section. By binding off, then alternately casting on stitches, a series of graduating holes are created. Using the German Short Row technique to create Double Stitches, the fabric begins to expand with wedges.
As you progress, the main color of the work starts to dominate, and the pattern expresses the stretching of sound waves, exemplifying a bat’s echolocation abilities. At the final picot bind-off, the batwing points will reveal themselves!
Your main color and the contrasting color can be the same weight, such as a lace or fingering weight. But you can also mix your weights, having the CC be one step heavier than your MC.
Gauge is more about how your MC and CC play against each other. A quick gauge sample instruction is included so that you can audition your needles and your yarns.
