To travel from the human world to the Elves world, the Elves women lay their shawl in a swamp and step on it. I always imagined how it would go if I was going to do the same, how the shawl would get heavy with mud and distorted, would even get a hole in it…

The “I’m not an Elf woman” foulard starts like a typical top-down Icelandic shawl using a traditional motif but then takes a life on its own and shifts color and shape.

Finished measurements: 61 cm /24” wide, 164 cm : 5.4 ft long

Yarn used: Love Story Einband by Hélène Magnússon: 100% new wool, pure Icelandic lambswool, very fine lace, 1-ply, 25 g/skein = approx. 225 m/ 246 yds: 1 skein of each color
