A lightweight, floaty summer vest top with all the drape and all the space. ‘Imperfect summer’ is a simple patten for a practical wardrobe staple that you’ll wear all summer. It’s a ‘beach to street’ top that can be worn anywhere, thrown over a bikini or teamed with a cami for extra coverage.

The natural texture of the linen and use of an oversized hook creates a perfectly imperfect texture. Here’s to rejecting the idea of perfection and embracing the joy of imperfection.

Skills:
This is a relatively simple top pattern, worked in rows using simple decreases, slip stitches and working in the front and back loops.
Its oversized fit allows for a lot of flexibility in tension, making it a great project for those newer to crocheting garments.

The pattern is written in English using US crochet terms.

Materials:
The top is worked using fingering weight yarn and a 5.5mm crochet hook, or size needed to obtain gauge / tension.

The item you see here uses We Crochet / Knit Picks, Lindy Chain in bluebell. (70% linen, 30% pima cotton, 50g ball = 164m/180yds)

I also recommend using 4 stitch markers, or contrasting scraps of yarn to assist with the construction, though these are optional.

Sizing:
The pattern is written in 7 sizes from XS to 3XL to fit chest 76-136cm. The top is designed to be loose fitting with around 12-22cm of positive ease (that is 12-22cm larger than the body it’s designed to fit). The actual chest size of the finished top for sizes SX, S, M, L, 1X, 2X, 3X measures 88, 101, 110, 123, 132, 146, 158 cm
The length ranges form 62-69 cm depending on size made. More detailed measurements are given in the pattern.
