Impossible Tiles Afghan
This is an afghan that started its life as a square among many. Originally this was square #10 of another afghan. I liked it so much I thought it deserved to be its own afghan. Because the center can be either horizontal or vertical, I decided to alternate them for a tile look. Also, since it is a rectangle inside a square, it looks impossible to be square. Hence the name. I would like to apologize for the photo. I injured my hip a couple weeks ago and was not able to get every wrinkle out.
This is not a watch-TV-while-making pattern. This one requires attention due to sides being different. The afghan has a unique join and border. Each square has a join border, also. There are photos along the way for help.
My testers were a mix of adventurous beginners to experienced, so we made sure it was easy enough to follow for all.
It is written in American terms
Rated for Adventurous Beginner due to construction.
Finished size is 53” X 53”
Each square is about 12” without join border
The afghan can be made in various sizes and the border is adjustable to match.
I really think you will enjoy making this. The join and border are very easy, so that part can be done while watching TV :)
