If you know… you know.

The Impressive Wingspan cowl was inspired by our favorite Bat Boys and a desire for a simple, but not too simple, lace design that was beginner to intermediate friendly. This design is perfect for using up sock set skeins when you don’t want to knit socks, working up lone single skeins of fingering weight yarn, or getting adventurous with scraps and mini skeins.

This pattern is available as two versions: a single color and a multicolor. There are slight design differences between the two versions to either emphasize color shifts or add structure to the lace.

Both versions of the pattern include both text and chart instructions, as well as a checklist Worksheet for marking off rows as they are completed. The multicolor version also includes an Ideas page with instructions on how to adjust the design for a three or seven color version.

Supplies
Total Yarn: ~325 yds, 70 grams fingering weight yarn

Multicolor Version using one main skein and one mini:
MC: 50 grams
CC: 20 grams

Recommended Yarns:
Cozy Cauldron Soft Sock, 463 yards, 3 ply, 75% 19.5 micron extrafine SW Merino, 25% Nylon

Needle(s): US5/3.75mm (or size needed to achieve gauge)

Notions: Stitch Markers (9), needle for weaving in ends, preferred row counting tool (if any)

Gauge: Gauge is not critical for this design. Personal gauge and how tight or loose this cowl is blocked will play heavily into the final size.

Sizes
One Size: Approx 22 inch circumference, 13 inch height

Size Notes: This pattern includes instructions on how to adjust for added length or width.
