Improv Shawl

Experimentation with a safety net. You’ll get freedom to play with the promise of a lovely result.
Shawl is worked from the neck down in 3 sections: stockinette for warmth at the neck and to warm up to using larger needles with the sock yarn, 1/4 improv to start trying out different lace repeats, and then full improv to let your imagination run free.
Pattern gives both written instructions and (thanks to Ka’a Christian Stoll-Dreeszen) charts.
I designed this pattern to make shawls for my two sisters-in-law after their mom passed away. I wanted to make something they could wear year-round in Southern California, and I wanted to use exactly one skein of my new favorite sock yarn from Radioactive Rabbit.
