In the Forest
Please note for those located in Europe that VAT is applied at checkout.
The forest is somewhere I go to get away from the world. I love the quiet and calm that comes over me when I enter the cool, dark woods. Being in nature can restore our energy, mood and ease our stress and worry. Knitting can also bring this same feeling.
’In the Forest’ is a top down, one skein triangular shawlette that reflects the fabric of nature in alternating sections of texture and lace. The simple cable worked throughout the piece that you take as you wander through the trees. The mesh represents the light that dapples between the leaves; the solid sections are like the sturdiness of the trees, steadfast and resilient. Even on the brightest of days, the light can’t reach you when you are deep within the forest - holding your secrets and keeping you safe.
MATERIALS
Yarn:
425m (464 yards) of a fingering weight yarn.
The yarn pictured is Lilypond Yarns (75% superwash merino/25% nylon) in their Oh Christmas Tree Colourway.
This is a lovely and springy yarn with a lot of bounce and elasticity.
Needles:
4mm / US 6 at least 80cm (32”) long
Gauge:
20 sts x 32 rows over 10cm / 4” in stockinette after blocking. Gauge is not crucial to this project but varying gauges will affect final measurements and yardage used. This pattern could easily be made larger by repeating sections but will use more yarn.
Notions:
Cable needle
Stitch markers x 4
Tapestry needle
