In the Land of Sweets
I fondly remember being a little girl with visions of sugar plums dancing in my head. The Christmas season always went hand in hand with The Nutcracker and as a ballerina at heart, it isn’t something I forget easily! This perfectly-paired bundle of colors immediately made me think of the Sugar Plum Fairy’s choreography in this iconic role and the yarn choreographed itself into its own little dance that will gracefully hug your shoulders the entire winter season and beyond.
Finished Measurements: 95”/241.5 cm wingspan and 21”/53.5 cm long after washing and blocking.
Yarn: Tippy Tree Yarns Tippy Sock, 75% Superwash Merino/25% Nylon, 463 yards, 100 g, 1 skein each in the following colors: En Pointe (MC), Sugar Plum Fairy (C1), Ballerina (C2), or 3 skeins of fingering weight yarn in colors of your choice, approximately 375 yards each.
Gauge: 20 sts/32 rows = 4”/10.0 cm in Stockinette Stitch, unblocked. 18 sts/32 rows = 4”/10.0 cm in Stockinette Stitch after washing and blocking. Gauge is not critical to completion of shawl, if your gauge differs, you may need slightly more or less yarn.
Needles: US 6 (4 mm) 32”/80 cm circular or method preferred to work a large number of sts flat and size to obtain gauge.
Notions: Tapestry needle, measuring tape, scissors, 2 stitch markers.
