The sample socks were knit using a hand-dyed, hand-spun shetland/soy silk blend 2-ply yarn (15 wpi - sportweight according to my wraps per inch tool). A commercial yarn of the same weight may be used.

While the pattern is written for 5 dpns it can be knit up using your favorite method. 9” circular needles were used to knit the sample socks.
