A video tour of this shawl is available by clicking this link.
Somewhere between a crescent and a triangle shape, this shawl is worked from side to side in rows of ever increasing length. The cable edged jagged trim runs along the end of the rows and the opposing long edge is the bind-off. The cables are small enough to be worked without a cable needle if that is your style.
The not-quite-garter stitch texture of the body has just enough interest to break up the possible tedium of unending knit rows and it helps show off the beauty of the yarn. The sample was knit with a single skein of fingering weight yarn, but you could add more if it suits your fancy.
Worked at a slightly larger than usual gauge, the drape on this shawl is just wonderful. This pattern would also work well in Sport weight yarn with slight adjustment to your needle and gauge.
Based on the estimation of my wonderful test knitters this pattern is suitable for a Beginner who has a little experience with cables. Other than the cables the pattern has knits, purls, knit-front-back style increases and binding off of stitches along the trim.
