Indian Feathers
Crescent shape shawl inspired by traditional Haapsalu lace. Knitted from the bottom. Lace first, short rows second. Nupps or beads can be added.
Shawl can be worked from written instructions or charts.
Note: beads will add weight to your shawl, nupps consume more yarn.
Happy knitting!

-
Purple shawl: Yarntopia Treasures 8/2 Tencel, approx. 352 yds. US 3 (US 8 for cast on), 35 feathers, I-cord bind off, middle - 16”
Notes:
-
Aqua and Purple shawls made bigger, here is how: last RS row(27) knitted: sl, k3, yo, dbl dec, “yo, k5, yo, dbl dec”, repeat “”, yo, k4. which gives you more stitches to work with in a short row section( knit the same 18 feather + spine after)
-
Aqua and Purple shawls blocked not as a circle, but as a crescent.
-
Use cast on method that stretches very well (and I mean VERY stretchy, cause you’re going to block this edge)
-
I’ve used single cast on (twisted loop, thumb cast on) on a bigger needles and knitted first row and then started lace part. It is super easy and fast, you not going to spend whole evening casting on those 411 sts.
