The pipsqueak yarn is really the best for the slipper part. One skein makes 2-3 pairs of booties. It’s very soft, and machine washable. I use an I needle with this yarn.

The sock part of the slipper can be worked with any soft super fine or fine yarn you have. I used Purple Deborah Norville Serenity Sock (super fine) and Hibiscus (Red) Deborah Norville Serenity Garden (fine) yarn. I use F needles with both types of yarn, but you can change this to any needle smaller than I if needed, just adjust the number of stitches in the sock so the ankle cir is still 5 inches.

First you work the slipper, then add the ears, then work the sock part.

This can be a really difficult pattern, as the pipsqueak yarn makes it impossible to see your stitches. You really want to count each row with this pattern, and feel for stitches when needed. If a row doesn’t match the count when you get to the end (or really close to it), you’ll want to pull it out and redo it, feeling for the stitches the second time. If this isn’t done the size could be off when it’s done.

Pattern doesn’t include a chart, but it does include pictures for the complicated steps.
