Based on a motif created by Nancy Marchant that I modified, the stitch motif used in this cowl recalls the flames of hell or the wings of angels depending on how you look at it and the mood of the day!
I used two colors with a high contrast to emphasize the motif and theme.
Worked in the round from bottom up, this cowl will keep the interest even in the repetitiveness of the pattern, interrupted here and there by the addition of little bobbles (optional) to give some spice to the knitting.
The cowl can be easily modified to obtain an infinity scarf or a narrower cowl if you prefer, just by adding or subtracting repeats.

GAUGE after blocking: 1 rep of the brioche stitch pattern corresponds to = 8 x 5 cm / 3.25 x 2”.
Gauge is not critical; different gauge will only affect finished size and yardage.
FINISHED SIZE after blocking: approximate circumference 90 cm / 36”; height 30 cm / 12”

MATERIALS
Fingering weight yarn in 2 colors, 220 m (240 yards) each.
Yarn used for the sample: LC: The Uncommon Thread Everyday Single, 100% SW merino, 100 gr / 366 m (400 yards), colorway Vintage Modern; DC: SnailYarn Single Fingering, 100% SW merino, 100 gr/366 m (400 yards), colorway Happy Salmon.
3.25 mm / US 3 circular needle 60 cm/ 24” long, or size to obtain gauge; bigger needle for cast on if you use long tail cast on method instead of Italian cast on.

Basato su un motivo creato da Nancy Marchant e modificato, il motivo brioche utilizzato ricorda le fiamme dell’inferno o le ali degli angeli a seconda di come lo si guarda, e dell’umore del momento!
Ho usato due colori molto contrastanti per enfatizzare il motivo ed il tema.
Lavorato in tondo dal basso, questo collo manterrà alto l’interesse pur nella ripetitività del motivo, interrotto qua e là da piccolo noccioline per aggiungere divertimento.
Il collo può essere facilmente modificato ad una sciarpa ad anello o ad un collo più aderente modificando il numero di maglie avviate.
CAMPIONE dopo il bloccaggio: 1 ripetizione del motivo a punto brioche corrisponde a = 8 x 5 cm .
Il campione non è determinante; una tensione diversa avrà effetto solo sulle misure finali e sulla quantità di filato.

MISURE FINALI dopo il bloccaggio: circonferenza circa 90 cm; altezza 30 cm.
