Inflorescence pullover
Autumn is here and I am desperately trying to preserve the spirit of summer. And I do not only mean preserving fruit and vegetables, I also collect flowers. Dried with their colours washed out, they will still be reminding me the beauty of their youth. I see this design as a bouquet of dried flowers. “Inflorescence” is a botanical term for a group of flowers arranged on a stem.
Worked top down seamless in the round, this round yoke pullover is decorated with stranded colourwork floral pattern with floats on the right side around the yoke, an asymmetric hem and cuffs.
Sizes
The pattern instructions are calculated for a classic fit in nine sizes to fit 74 (84, 94, 104, 114) (124, 134, 144, 154) cm /29 (33, 37, 41, 45) (49, 53, 57, 61) in bust circumference with ca. 10-12 cm /4-5 in of positive ease.
For the finished measurements, please refer to the schematics. The sample is shown in size 2 on a 160 cm /5.3 feet tall model with ca. 84-66-98 cm /33-26-39 in body measurements.
Yarn
Main colour: ca. 175 (200, 250, 300, 350) (425, 475, 550, 600) g of fingering weight Darnie from Studio Donegal, 100% merino wool with 410 m (448 yds) in 100 g, shown in shade 8805 (garnet) with estimated yardage of ca. 718 (820, 1025, 1230, 1435) (1743, 1948, 2255, 2460) m /784 (896, 1120, 1344, 1568) (1904, 2128, 2464, 2688) yds.
Contrasting colour: ca. 25 (35, 45, 55, 65) (75, 85, 95, 105) g of Donegal yarns Kilcarra soft donegal tweed, 100% merino wool with 380 m (416 yds) in 100 g, shown in shade 5518 (boyne) with estimated yardage of ca. 95 (133, 171, 209, 247) (285, 323, 361, 399) m /105 (146, 188, 230, 272) (314, 355, 397, 439) yds.
Gauge
20 sts and 28 rows in 10 cm (4 in) measured over stockinette stitch in the round after blocking on 3.5 mm (US 4) needles.
Same or 1-2 sts smaller gauge for the colourwork is required. Use a bigger size needle for the colourwork if necessary. Because of the floats the colourwork is not as stretchy as you might expect.
Needles and notions
A pair of 3.5 mm or 4.0 mm (US 4 or 5) 40-80-100 cm (16-32-40 in) circular or interchangeable needles with spare cables; stitch markers; 2.5 mm (B or C) crochet hook.
