Inis Oírr is part of the CableStar Volume 1: Galway Bay collection. You can purchase the eBook containing 6 patterns and 19 tutorials, or the pattern individually.
Inis Oírr (pronounced “inish-eer”), named after the smallest of the Aran Islands, is influenced by traditional Aran knitting hailing from this region located in Galway Bay, Ireland.
This is a multi-use garment - at once designed to be a wrap/shawl, blanket, or oversized scarf, meant to keep the wearer warm during the chilliest of weather. Designed to be an heirloom, staple piece, in any knitters arsenal, the varying textured stitches and cabling make for an interesting and fun knit.
Inis Oírr is constructed seamlessly - the main body is constructed first, knit in one piece, and then the border is knit onto it, creating a seamless and continuous flowing cable around the main body. You can see a tutorial of the edge join here.
