Inisheer Fingerless Mitts
I was inspired to make these mitts while on a knitting tour of Ireland. It was cold and I forgot to pack a hat, so I purchased some Irish yarn and crocheted a hat that used the front post double crochet stitch. I chose a crochet pattern rather than a knit pattern - even though I was on a knitting tour - because I wanted something I could finish fast. I loved the texture of that stitch, so I incorporated it into these mitts.
The Connemara Mitts is a knit pattern similar to this pattern. I designed them both for the 2019 East TN Yarn Crawl.
The small size makes a mitt approximately 7” in circumference; the large makes a mitt approximately 8” in circumference. The only difference in the instructions for the 2 sizes is the length of the chain. To make another size, adjust length of the chain making sure to have an odd number of stitches.
The length of the mitts is easily adjustable by doing more or fewer rounds than specified in the pattern.
