This pattern comes with instructions for 3 different shaped leaves.

Maple, Oak and Beech

All three leaves begin with a provisional cast on and a lateral braid to make the centre spine of the leaf. A video tutorial is linked in the pattern to show how to do this. The video can also be accessed here.

Both the Maple and Beech leaf use twisted stitches to create the other leaf veins and the Oak leaf uses a diagonal ribbed stitch.

Skills used are:

Knit, purl, k2tog, p2tog, ssk, ssp, tbl, using a cable needle (although not required), cast off, slipping stitches, twisted stitches.

Each row is written out clearly, with the stitch count indicated.

These leaves may be used as coasters, decorative wall hangings, as applique, to make autumn themed garland or even as dish cloths. Try using a heavier weight yarn and go up a few needle sizes to obtain a larger sized leaf. You could even try making a rug by using super bulky yarn. :)
