This pattern is available for free.

This hat pattern was inspired by the Insulate Britain campaign, with added humour. The garter ridge pattern is designed to simulate lagging and the colours are derived from the Union Jack, the flag of Great Britain. It is a warm cosy hat, which if knitted in wool will insulate the wearer when working from home with no heating.

Skills required
Knitting in the round and the ability to follow a colour chart in stranded colour work. The floats are woven every 4 or 5 stitches, but their placement should vary on subsequent rounds.
Jogless join.
Provisional cast on.
Some experience of using a magic loop would be useful, alternatively, double pointed needles can be used for the crown.
Apart from sewing in the ends, no sewing is required.
