Interdisciplinary Ottoman
This project requires both knitting and crocheting. And a bit of machine sewing, but you can actually skip this part. If you don’t know how to do all of these things, you should ask a friend or a family member to join you and make it a group project :)
I ticked the “knitting project” option while adding this tutorial to Ravelry, because the knitting part will take you the most time.
The tutorial also contains instructions for making the ottoman skeleton out of empty plastic bottles - for this you will need 38 empty bottles, half of them with their caps on, plus some kitchen cling-film and a piece of cardboard.
You will also need about 550 grams of yarn appropriate for knitting needles and a crocheting hook 6/6.5 millimeres. However, you should use thinner knitting needles and a thinner crocheting hook (5 mm), to make the ottoman cozy more dense and fluffy.
I used about 500 grams of light-green yarn and a small ball (50 grams) of dark-green yarn.
The size of the ottoman depends on the bottles you use for the skeleton. My ottoman is roughly 14 inches tall (36 cm), it has a diameter of 17 inches (43 cm) and weighs 3.5 lbs (1.65 kilos). It’s quite sturdy, I can sit on it although I’m rather large and heavy.
