Intertwined Roots Shawl
“Intertwined Roots” is an asymmetrical triangular shawl worked sideways. It features a detailed repetetive cabled edge and some stockinette with garter rows for the main body of the shawl. Some eyelet rows and a picot edge keep the knitting process encouraging until the end.
Due to the loose gauge it is a light, soft and drapy shawl which is big and cozy at the same time.
“Intertwined Roots” is inspired by the roots of trees. They are the anchor to the trees own ground. No matter how the external circumstances are, the tree is always deeply intertwined with its foundation through their roots.
YARN:
- Honer Och Eir Nutiden in the colourway “Liv” (300g).
The sample only used 200g of Nutiden “Liv”. But since every Nutiden blend is different in feel and yardage, I recommend having 300g of the Nutiden colourway of your choice.
- Knitting for Olive Silk-Mohair in the colourway “Rose Clay” (5x25g balls of 225m)
--> Both yarns are held together throughout the project.
If you want to use another yarn, any combination of Fingering or light Sport weight yarn held together with a Silk-Mohair, or a DK weight on its own should work to achieve gauge.
Some testers also held Nutiden double and knitted their shawl offgauge. Keep in mind, that you will need more yarn in this case.
GAUGE (blocked and dry):
17 sts, 27 rows =10x10 cm/ 4x4 inches for stockinette with garter rows (the main body of the shawl)
NEEDLES: 4,5mm/US7 circular needles
NOTIONS: 4 stitchmarkers, tapestry needle
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:
Bindoff edge: 134 cm/ 52,75inches
