These socks are for autumn, transitioning into cooler weather. Bright bloom is gone and nature enters another phase. Autumn is such a lovely time and here are nice colorwork socks to celebrate it!

The toe upsocks are knit with Filcolana Arwetta as background and sock yarn mini skeins for the colorwork. The socks have two colorwork charts: Chart 1 is for the foot and is small and repeating chart. Chart 2 is big with no repeats, each size has it’s own chart. These are on the main file and also separately on another in landscape layout.

The heel is afterthought heel which is finished with kitchener stitch and ribbing is simple k1tbl, p1.

Prior knowledge of sock knitting is required.

Pattern uses the following:

  • Magic cast on, turkish cast on, or similar
  • M1R, M1L
  • Colorwork, charted
  • K1tbl, P1 ribbing
  • Afterthought heel
  • K2tog, SSK
  • Kitchener stitch

Yarn
The sample uses Filcolana Arwetta in color 203 for the background and merino sock yarn mini skein for the colorwork.
The sample sock in size 3 took about 70g of Arwetta and one 20g mini skein.

Needles & Gauge
Sample socks were started with 2mm/ US0 needles and the colorwork was knit with 2,5mm needles.

34sts / 42 rows per 10cm/4in

Sizes
There are six sizes that are based on amount of stitches.
Size 1 - 56 sts
Size 2 - 64 sts
Size 3 - 72 sts
Size 4 - 80 sts
Size 5 - 88 sts
Size 6 - 96 sts

As the socks are knit toe up, it is easy to try the sock on after the toe and see what size works best. So if you can’t get the gauge or use different yarn, it doesn’t really matter as you can choose the size as you go.
