Introspections
Introspections is a lightweight triangular shawl featuring subtle texture shifts from stockinette to seed stitch. Knit with thin garter edging, a central spine, and easy yarn over increases, Introspections is a deceptively easy pattern to knit but will produce a garment that looks far more complex. The lace weight yarn and large gauge make for an airy wrap that is perfect to snuggle up in at home or wear out on a warm summer evening. So grab a cup of tea, find a comfy armchair and slowly work your way through this meditative project.
Introspections is a pattern that I never intended to publish or write down. Introspections began, for me, as a morning meditation to soothe my anxieties in these unsure times as a pandemic rages outside our windows. I picked up a leftover skein from an old project and put it on the needles. Each morning in an armchair with a cup of tea in hand, this shawl’s long and rhythmic rows settled me into quiet reveries, reflections and deep introspection. I share this pattern now in the hopes that it will do the same for you; that it will bring you a sense of inner peace and stillness with which to weather this storm.
