This felted iPhone pouch has the option of a long or a short strap to keep the phone handy. After knitting, the pouch is felted/fulled in a washing machine or a bucket. An optional needle-felted logo or other decoration may be added after the pouch is dry, and a sewn lining is recommended for durability. The pouch instructions include size for an iPhone 4, 4s or for an iPhone 6, 6s, but not for the 6 Plus or the 6s Plus. It could be adapted for larger phones by increasing the stitch count by an appropriate number.
If yarn other than Wool of the Andes Worsted is used, a gauge swatch to determine shrinkage is required. As-written, the pouch takes 20g of Wool of the Andes for the smaller version or 22g for the larger version, so even with a longer cord, it should take less than half a skein.
Extra materials and notions needed for the optional needle-felted logo include a small amount Knit Picks Peruvian Highland Wool Roving in “Bare” or other wool roving in a contrast color or white; plastic template material; needle-felting needle; clean, dry cellulose sponge small enough to fit inside the pouch after felting. An Exacto knife is helpful for cutting out the stencil.
