Since sari silk comes in a range of thicknesses this pattern does not have a specific needle size or gauge - stitch counts are given but as a guide, so you should be able to make this with whatever yarn you can get your hands on.
The purse is knitted sideways and the flap is picked up and knit after the purse is sewn together.
