Knitting pattern for Irina socks
Irina socks feature a crisp ribbed cuff of twisted knit stitches that continues down the entire leg. A beautiful lace pattern is integrated into the ribbing on the leg and the top side of the sock. The underside of the sock is worked in stockinette stitch, providing a comfortable feel while wearing.
For these socks, we recommend using our soft and durable Önling No 18 yarn, composed of 75% non-superwash wool and 25% recycled PET (plastic) bottles
Sizes:
Small (size 36-37 / US 5.5-6.5)
Medium (size 38-39 / US 7-8.5)
Large (size 40-42 / US 9.5-11.5)
The sizes can be adjusted so that you can choose to knit according to the stitch count for size small if you have narrow feet and knit them to the desired length. Conversely, you can knit according to the stitch count for size L if you have wide feet
Materials:
50(75)75 g Önling No 18, 100 g = approximately 459 yards (420 meters), 4 ply sock wool - non superwash with recycled bottles
Suggested needles: 2.5 mm / US 1.5 circular needle with a 60 cm / 24 inches length or 2.5 mm / US 1.5 double-pointed needles (DPNs)
Gauge: 32 stitches x 47 rows per 10 cm / 4 inches on a 2.5 mm / US 1.5 circular needle
Procedure:
The Irina sock is worked from the cuff, down over the heel and foot, finishing with a rounded toe. The sock is knitted using the magic loop method on a circular needle, but you can also use double-pointed needles if you prefer.
The Irina sock features a gusset heel and includes the following sections: a ribbed cuff in twisted knit stitches that continues down the leg, a heel flap, heel turn, gusset, foot, and toe.
