Iris is lacy shawl, pretty, light, soft, full of poesy and springy.

Its body is made out of stockinette stitch, springled with little “stars” so that not to get too bored in the process. Then comes a large band of lovely lace with “feathers”, looking very intricate and refined but quite simple to knit. The special touch of the shawl comes from the upper edge and the bind-off, done with the i-cord technique, giving a clean sharp finish to the shawl.

Although the shawl seems to fly, it remains well framed with the i-cord. There are two different ways to knit it : one with the i-cord all around and the other with a classic garter stitch upper border. You may play with these techniques as you wish. My version on the pictures is knit with i-cord finishing all around.

After wet-blocking your shawl should reach about 160 cm long and 55 cm high at widest point (considering that you respected the gauge mentioned on the next page).

A lace version (green one) is born (from the fingering version) with 1 skein of Gleem Lace, Fyberspates with 3,5mm needles. After wet blocking, your shawl should reach at least 210 cm long and 50 cm high at the widest point.

Iris est un beau châle dentelle, poétique, léger, fluide, souple, doux.

Il est constitué d’une partie jersey assez couvrante, parsemée de petites “étoiles” pour ne pas trop s’ennuyer dessus. Ainsi que d’une belle partie de dentelle à “plumes” très simple à réaliser pour un rendu raffiné. Une bordure et une finition en i-cord pour rester dans l’élégance, très simple à réaliser également.

Cependant, la bordure en i-cord limite l’ampleur totale du châle. Vous trouverez donc, dans ce patron, deux manières de construire la bordure : en i-cord ou en point mousse. Ainsi, selon votre envie, vous pourrez étendre l’envergure totale du châle. La version présentée ici comporte une bordure en i-cord.

Après blocage, version i-cord intégral, le châle mesurera 160 cm de long pour 55 cm de large, pourvu que l’échantillon soit respecté.

NOUVEAU 25/04/2016

Une version lace est née (châle vert sur les photos), à partir de la version fingering modifiée et agrandie, tricotée à partir d’un écheveau de Gleem Lace de Fyberspates, en 3,5 mm. Après blocage, votre châle devrait atteindre facilement les 2m10 d’envergure et 50 cm au point le plus large.
