A great basic pattern that will work for a traditional Christening garment (you may want to make it longer), or work as a cape for a flower girl or first communion attire. Designed to be made from one 100g ball of Dk cotton, the pattern is most economical and speedy to produce.
Once accomplished it’s very easy to make various adaptions, e.g. add more flowers or decorative stitching to the basic design.
Made in alternative yarns it can have a vintage vibe to create a very cute look.
The Irish cape in the image was made from one 100g ball including the roses which have 2 layers of petals.
We recommend using a smaller hook size if your work looks too loose or open. It’s difficult to gauge open crochet but the actual chain links should not be too ‘open’.
Some bead work added to the roses or all over would be super.
The good news is there’s no sewing up!
