Irish Guild socks are worked cuff-down in the round, with an afterthought heel, on 2.5mm / US #1.5 double-pointed needles or a .5mm / US #1.5 9” circular needle.

Instructions are for a 68 (72, 76) stitch circumference leg/ankle/foot, and the sock is knit in this order: Sock Tube (including cuff), Toe, Afterthought Heel. Note: the 68 stitch sock fits like a 60 stitch stockinette sock.

Skills you will need:

K - Knit.
P - Purl.
YO - Wrap your working yarn around the right needle as if to knit (counter-clockwise).
K2TOG - Knit two stitches together.
SSK - Slip two stitches knitwise, slip left needle Through front loop of slipped stitches, knit together.
Lift loop to make 1 right - explanation in pattern.
Lift loop to make 1 left - explanation in pattern.
C2R - Cable 2 right.
C2L - Cable 2 left.
P3RC - 2 cable right, knit 2, purl 1.
