Irish Jig Socks
I wanted to make my own ‘poodle socks’ (what we’ve always called the socks we wore for Irish Dancing) I invented poodle stitch just for this sock, but I’ve since used it on lots of other projects. I included it on 2 of the 13 patterns I wrote for the Happy Trails Socks Book (also on Torc & Knot Socks). It is done in multiples of 4 sts x 4 rounds, so is easily adjustable for any size yarn. It involves lots of manipulation so don’t try it too tightly. I plan to put a ‘Poodle stitch’ tutorial on my website if people want to knit this (it’s really not too tough and has a pleasant rhythm once you get the hang of it…)
Happy Trails Socks was a booklet available from the Wooly West. The book is now out of print
