This Irish moss stitch hat pattern is an excellent project for anyone who is learning how to knit.
A free version of this pattern can be found on my blog here.
You can also shop the pattern here.
• DESCRIPTION
The hat is easy to make, with advanced beginner knitters in mind.
Using knit and purl stitches, you will create ribbing, learn to knit in the round and it will also introduce you to decreasing and shaping.
This hat will be super cozy to wear in the cold weather.
Yarn
Any medium-weight yarn 04 (worsted, aran, fisherman, 10 ply) will be okay to use for this pattern. 100g
I used 1 skein of Alize Lanagold Classic yarn in green (29)
You can purchase Alize yarns from YarnStreet or on Etsy.
Yarn Substitute - Cascade 220 Superwash Aran.
Needles
4 mm (US 6) 16” circular knitting needles.
5.5 mm (US 9) 16” circular knitting needles.
Please note - you may have to change your needles for the decreases of the hat if working on the circulars becomes too tight.
This would mean using a set of size 5.5 mm double-pointed needles (DPNs).
If you do not have those, you could use a 60cm/24” cable and use the magic loop technique.
