Isabella lap blanket
This pattern begins with my Isabella granny square. I decided it looked like it would be a great beginning center to a blanket and then I just kept going!
This is a perfect pattern for a stash buster project! Or use a single color, an ombre, or a cake yarn. The choice is yours! Gauge is not crucial for this project. You may use any yarn weight, using hook appropriate for your yarn. If you use a DK, you will need extra yarn to finish this pattern. I crochet loosely. This one came out to 40”- 42”.
I wonderful tester, Vinodhini Ramesh, supplied the second version photos! Beautiful colors.
Stitches
Magic circle/ This is optional. If you prefer CH3 and joining in a ring that is fine.

Crochet in back and third loop (insert your hook into back loop, tilt your work toward you and you will see a smaller half bar/loop underneath. Insert your hook into that stitch as well. This gives your stitch a little bit more stability than using back loop only.)
3 DC cluster (yarn over, insert hook into loop, pull up a loop, yarn over pull through two loops, yarn over insert hook into same loop, pull up a loop, yarn over pull through two loops, and repeat till you have four loops, yarn over and pull through all 4 loops, CH 1 to close.)
Puff stitch shell. 3DC, puff stitch in one stitch
Crocheting in the legs of a stitch=when you look underneath the two top loops, you will see a V in the front which is called the legs of the stitch. Insert your hook In the middle of that V.
Puff stitch=yo, pull up a tall loop 5 times, yo and pull thru all, CH1 to close
STSC, stacked single crochet
FPTR=front post triple crochet
