This sweater is vibrant and eye-catching, but boasts a very simple construction. It’s true, there is one line of colorwork that uses four colors, and a few that use three, but the vast majority is just two and it’s worth it. It’s a classic style with colorwork around the yoke and easy stockinette after that. We use fingering weight yarn held double for our contrast colors, making the colorwork a touch thicker than the main color yarn so that it stands out.

Finished Measurements:
A note about yoke depth: Because we are not casting on any extra stitches at the armhole the yoke will be a bit deeper than you may be used to. The yoke depth given is a starting point. Knitters will customize fit as they work.
A note about ease: As ease is quite individual, please choose the size that will best fit your body. I wear mine with 1-2”/5-10cm positive ease. You may find it helpful to measure a garment with your preferred fit.

Yarn:
A note about the yarn used: For my contrast colors I used Handmaiden’s Vagabonds that I bought a couple years ago. The colors I purchased are still available on their website (handmaiden.ca), but not in the fiber. I purchased fingering weight Super Wash Merino, which they don’t appear to carry anymore. For your reference the colors I purchased are called Fiji (green) and Soleil (orange). I have found excellent matches in the correct fiber and weight in Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light. Her green is not as variegated as the Fiji, but if you hold two skeins together (and the yarn is held double anyway in this pattern) it matches perfectly. You may choose to use one skein held double of the Cardigan color for less variegation, or for more you can hold Cardigan together with Tacenda.
