Isbre hat
This is the hat version of the Isbre sweater, using the same historical Norwegian colourwork chart, and employing the same smart method for avoiding long floats. The hat has a folded brim to keep your ears warm and snug in the cold.
Yarn
Rauma Finull PT2 (100% Norwegian wool, 175m / 191 yds, 50 g). 250 m main colour, 40 m contrast colour.
Could be substituted with any sport to fingering weight yarn. You will get the best results if you use a non-superwash ,woollen spun, sheep’s wool yarn. Alternatives: Hillesvåg Ask or Vilje, Tukuwool Fingering, Sandnes Tove, Navia Duo, etc.
Needles
Gauge-size needles for stockinette and stranded colourwork, 1 mm below-gauge circular needles for ribbed hat brim
The sample was made using 3.75 mm (US 5) and 2.75 mm (US 2), using 4 mm (US 6) for the stranded colourwork.
Gauge
(26, 24, 24, 26) sts x 34 (32) rnds = 10 cm / 4” in stockinette stitch (stranded colourwork).
Sizes
(1, 2, 3, 4)
The sample is knit in size 4 and worn with 3 cm positive ease.
Hat circumference (45, 50, 55, 60) cm / (18, 20, 22, 24)”.
Hat length (24, 25, 26, 28) cm / (9, 10, 10, 11)”.
