Behold the humble isopod, pillbug, rolie polie, sowbug - whatever you may call it! Isopods are lovely creatures little creatures that scavenge around in forests and woods. This isopod buddy can be made in any yarn fiber, size, or color, and it is possible to embroider yarn on the outer carapace for infinite possibilities to populate a colony.

The crochet isopods in the images attached here were made with Queensland Collection Walkabout Organic Shetland Wool for the dark grey one and Malabrigo Sock Yarn for the yellow/brown one. The size of the final isopod depends on the yarn and hook chosen to crochet the project.

The isopod is crocheted as a main body with separate antenna, legs, and side triangles that all are sewn together at the end. Eyes can be added using dark yarn, beads, snap/safety eyes, etc.

Techniques used in this pattern include magic circle starting, crochet through front loop, double crochet into post, and yarn & needle sewing.
