It Gets Easier Shawl
If you’re anything like me, you start a project filled with enthusiasm, but as time goes on and rows get longer my enjoyment can sometimes begin to fade. I noticed a sense of rejuvenation when I get past the halfway point on a C2C blanket and think to myself “It gets easier from here”. That led me to designing this modern, asymmetric shawl. Unlike most traditional shawls, it starts with the longest row, and every row after gets progressively shorter (“It Gets Easier”). The starting row is created using a foundation DC row, so there are no fiddly chains to deal with, and the design features a floral motif and self-working boarder. The end result is stylish and elegant, and can be worn across different seasons.
I made mine using a 200g Lola, but it would also look beautiful in a Scheepjes whirl, Hobbii Twirl/Twister, or any other 4 ply yarn you can think of!
This design is suitable for a beginner, and a chart is included for additional support. I used a size 4mm crochet hook, but you could easily go up or down a size depending on your tension. This pattern uses US crochet terminology throughout. The following stitches are used:
Ch – Chain stitch
SC – Single Crochet
DC – Double Crochet
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about the pattern and I will do my best to help out. I would love to see photos of pieces you’ve created using this pattern.
