Italian Moped Cap
I am not a hat person. I love seeing hats on other women, but never seem to think hats look good on me. So here is a hat that looks great on everyone – really.
I can picture a lovely Italian woman wearing it as she drives her moped to work on an autumn morning. Or an American woman – in the city, in the country, or on a college campus as shown in these pics. Honestly this hat looks great on kids, too.
The cap is brimmed and cabled and the band on the brim includes a button on each end. The cables can be done with or without a cable needle. This is a quick knit – a weekend project.

Yarn: With Queensland Rustic Tweed yarn, use two strands held together. Any other worsted weight yarn may be used, held singly or doubly, that produces gauge. If held singly, approximately 150 yards are needed; held doubly, approximately 300 yards are needed.
Needles: Use any needle size and yarn combination to get gauge. You will need the larger size needle in a 16” circular needle and a set of double-pointed needles. You will also need both a 16” and 24” circular needle, two sizes smaller than the larger needles.
Sizing: One size fits most women; however, add an extra cable repeat to make it larger. Pattern may easily be adapted to fit a baby or child.
