It's in the Details
This double-faced scarf was inspired by the detailing on hot rods and motorcycles, the delightful long colorways on Kauni Effectgarn, and my love of double-faced knitting. I almost got a motorcycle once. I guess for now I am settling for this scarf.
The flames are lyrically delicious with almost no repetition in the pattern. The Kauni adds to the drama of the pattern with its slow color transitions. The fabric is knit loosely enough to drape well.
The gauge given is including both stitches in a pair. The gauge measured on one side is actually 17 stitches/4 inches. There was no way to enter this in Ravelry’s template. I had about one quarter of a skein of both colors left when completing the scarf.
The cast-on uses 3 strands of yarn to set up the pairs. The knitting is striaght-forward double-knitting using a chart. The chart is long and covers 3 pages, though I have included a reduced size version so you can see how it all works together. There are only two repeats to the pattern, and the pattern mirrors itself to make it truly reversible.
I loved knitting this scarf. I hope you love it as much as I do.
