Itty Biddy Dorothy Doll
This is a .PDF file of a crochet pattern to make your very own timeless, collectible Dorothy Doll.
Who doesn’t remember Dorothy from The Golden Girls TV sitcom? As a teenager, you would think that watching some “old biddies” on TV would be unrelatable, but I loved them. I remember how much I laughed at Dorothy’s sarcasm and her non-existant patience for Rose or Sophia - “ Go to sleep Rose, and pray for brains”; “Shady Pines, Ma!”. Now, as a middle-aged woman myself, I only wish I had just an “itty biddy” bit of her irony and humour!
As a person who is self taught in crochet, I know how frustrating patterns can be to follow and understand. That is why I have taken special care to ensure that my pattern is thorough but easy to follow, with simple well-organized instructions, and over 30 photos to help you along. You will feel confident that you will end up with a well-made quality product when you have finished this pattern. Imagine the pride and joy you will feel when you show your friends and loved ones this beautiful handmade collectible. They will be so inspired by your creativity and talent.
To complete this pattern you will need:
experienced beginner crochet skills,
a small amount of worsted weight cotton yarn in black, light skin tone, and dress and hair colours of your choice, (I used brown, magenta, and grey)
3 mm hook (UK 11, US D/3)
two 10 mm (0.4 inch) safety eyes
polyester fibre fill
small piece of cardboard to cut about a 2” circle or a 2” washer
optional small pearl beads for earrings
darning needle, thin sewing needle, thread
stitch marker
The finished Dorothy Doll will be about 7” tall and 2” wide. Designed with a flat bottom so it will stand upright and can be easily displayed on your shelf of collectibles.
The pattern is written in English US terms.
There are 36 photos in the pattern to help you along the way.
Please contact me through Etsy messenger or email if you have any questions or issues with the pattern.
The finished doll you will make from this pattern is not meant for children. There are many small items that go on this doll that could be choking hazards. If you plan to give your finished doll to a child please do not use safety eyes or beads.
