Iunae Lumen
On a warm, dark night, you look up at the sky. Above you, millions of stars twinkle, hinting at other worlds far away, waiting to be discovered. You turn, and the brightness of the moon enters your vision. Basking in it’s reflected glow, you snuggle deeper into your shawl and sigh softly, feeling peaceful; at one with the universe.
Iunae Lumen is a top down triangular shawl, starting with a garter tab and growing by 4 stitches every RS row. There are five sections that the knitter may repeat as many times as desired and as such, this is slightly more of a recipe than a hard-and-fast pattern. You may use any weight yarn and any size needles to get the gauge and drape you choose.
Materials/notions:
Yarn: weloveknitting (fingering weight, silk/merino blend) in ‘Blue Stone’ (MC) and ‘Train to Bergen’ (CC) – 1 x 100gm skein of each
Needles: 4mm/US 6 32” circular needles (long needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches; shawl is worked flat)
Notions: 2 stitch markers (if desired)
Gauge:
19.75 sts and 33 rows over 4” (10cm) in First Section stitch pattern
Measurements:
Approx 144cm (56.7”) wingspan x 63.5cm (25”) deep
This pattern has been professionally tech-edited and test knit.
