Ivory Gull Holiday Hat Crochet Pattern

Ivory Gulls live high in the Canadian Arctic, like that guy in red. ;)

Gauge is based on a worsted yarn (Lion Brand “Pound of Love”, white and cherry) and a 5mm hook. Fits most adults. If unsure, especially for larger people, stitch the white part then have the intended user try it on. My crochet tension, yarn gauge, and head might be different than yours. Add or remove stitches from your starting row to make it larger or smaller. Should fit most adults comfortably as written.

Starting with a foundation double crochet (FDC) is strongly recommended because it will stretch and behave more like the subsequent rows than a starting chain would. Instructions are provided for both. Uses roughly 75g each of white and red worsted weight yarn.

Materials:
5 mm crochet hook
Finishing needle
Worsted weight yarn in red and white (total 150g)
Pompom maker or cardboard template

Stitches:
FDC foundation double crochet
DC double crochet
Sl st slip stitch
Ch chain
Decrease two DC together
