Based on the classic headscarf of the 1940s, Ivy features a cosy cable panel and cabled edge details, a bold adjustable front tie through a tab loop, and an interesting gathered construction. Requiring 2 cable needles for the gathered row, Ivy is suitable for knitters who are already confident working cables, increases and decreases.

As the hat is worn on the back of the head, gauge does not have to be absolutely precise.

This scarf looks best over hair worn high on the back of the head, and as with most hats of the period will require fastening with hatpins or bobby pins.
