I love a nice single-tone cabled sweater. WHO DOESN’T? But sometimes I need something more interesting in the color department.

It’s hard to combine cables and color. Cables run vertically up the knitted piece, while color changes lend themselves to horizontal rows.

The pattern combines basic color-change techniques – color change by row, intarsia, and stranding – to create contrasting color trim and easy-to-knit vertical cabled stripes.
Each contrasting color stripe is worked from its own bobbin using intarsia technique, with the main color carried behind the work using stranding technique. This pattern includes links for tutorials regarding the basic techniques and tips for applying them to this sweater.

The center cable is split in the middle to form a V-neck, with the neck trim worked at the same time as the front body.

The resulting stripes say: IYI.
