This Shawl was released for the Greater Boston Yarn Crawl.

This pattern is no longer free.

Izzy was a little sparrow who fell into our lives 5 years ago. Her antics and funny little personality brought us joy everyday until her passing. This shawl is in memory of the little bird who would cuddle on our shoulders or laps. The lace of the pattern is designed to look like a bird’s back. I hope that knitting this pattern brings you as much joy as Izzy brought us. Portions of the profits will be going to https://newhousewildliferescue.org.

Materials:

This project can use your favorite fingering weight yarn in several ways.

1: 2 skeins of sock weight yarns

1 main color (solid): Malabrigo Ultimate Sock 100 grams,421 yards

1 contrast color: Toil and Trouble 100 grams, 463 yards

Side note if you have a contrast skein that has less

yardage that is fine. How the pattern is written you use more of your mc yarn.

2: 2 skeins of a sock weight yarn, same color. This is if you do not want the striping effect. You will continue the pattern as set until the length desired making sure you leave enough for a i-cord bind off.

3: Skein of gradient yarn. Appro 900 yards.

All three of these give you plenty of room to play with.

Needle: US 5, 3.75 mm circle needles (32inch)

Accessories: Stitch markers

Gauge: Here is my take on gauge. This is a shawl. Gauge is important in order to have enough yarn to complete your project. Careful weighing and monitoring of your shawl will help you decide how large you can knit this shawl. If you like less drape in your shawl you can go down a needle size.
