There’s nothing like putting your feet up and settling in for a relaxing evening. Unless you’re Jabba the Hutt.

This pattern includes written instructions for a basic toe-up sock, but what makes these socks special is the message on the bottom!
The entire sock is knit to completion, and the lettering is then duplicate-stitched onto the sole. If you’ve already got a favorite sock pattern, you can sub that for my recipe, before adding the galactic jest.

I’ve also included basic duplicate stitch instructions and some tips on the process that I hope you find helpful!

You Will Need:
+/- 450 yds (412 m) of fingering weight yarn (approximately 1 skein of a main color and a contrasting color in a mini skein).

US Size 1 (2.25mm) Needle in your preferred style for knitting socks
Stitch Marker for Beginning of Round
Removable Stitch Markers
Tapestry Needle

Gauge: 32 sts and 56 rows in 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette stitch; worked in the round; unblocked

Sizes:
Medium/Women’s US Shoe Size = 6 - 9/Sock Size 9 - 11 (Foot Circumference 8”/20.5 cm)

I didn’t include instructions for multiple sizes for these socks because of limitations imposed by the width of the message. A sock that is 56 sts around only has 28 sts across the bottom, and unfortunately, I was unable to create a chart that could accommodate the lettering to my satisfaction. The charts can easily be centered across the sole of the foot for larger sizes, and I felt that including those steps were unnecessary.
