Jack of All Trades Cardigan
The jack of all trades cardigan (joat) crochet pattern includes:
- Written and video instructions for each card suit granny square (heart, club, spade, diamond).
- Written instructions and diagrams on how to assemble the cardigan.
- Written and photo instructions on how to add ribbing, the collar, and (optional) buttons.
- A range of sizes & two cardigan length options (details below under “measurements”).
Other notes:
- Language: English
- Terminology: US
- Level of difficulty: intermediate and up. Confident beginners may try out this pattern, but I highly recommend starting with easier crochet projects via YT. :)
- Skills: basic crochet stitches (e.g., SC, HDC, DC, TC, DTC, SLST, etc.), ribbing, some sewing (as you’ll have to assemble the granny squares into a cardigan and sew in buttons).
Materials:
- Yarn weight: worsted/aran/size 4 weight yarn. For reference, I used Sugar ‘n Cream yarn in the colors soft ecru (Color A), red (Color B), & black (Color C). Overall, I used ~595g of Color A, ~235g of Color B, & ~235g of Color C, where 71g = 109m.
- Subtract/add 110g of Color A & 55g of Color B/C for every 5” going down/up from 40”)
- Hook size: 4.5mm crochet hook (or any hook that meets the gauge with your tension)
- Tape measure
- Scissors & yarn needle
- Stitch markers
- ± 3 buttons with a 1” (2.5cm) diameter
Sizing & Measurements:
- Bust: 35” (40”) 45” (49”) 50” (56”) 63” (70”)
- Length (cropped): 14” (16”) 18” (14”) 20” (16”) 18” (20”)**
- Length (regular): 21” (24”) 27” (21”) 30” (24”) 27” (30”)**
- Sleeve length: 14” (16”) 18” (14”) 20” (16”) 18” (20”)** ** Lengths do not take into consideration ribbing (because length of ribbing is up to you!)

- I would love to share your work on my page as it brings me insurmountable joy that someone has made a cardigan using this pattern. ♡
- It is only fair that credit goes where credit is due. This is not gatekeeping. It is respecting and recognizing the work a creative has put into creating a pattern. Because you have bought this pattern does not make it yours nor does it mean you should treat the design as if it is yours.
Lastly, I’d like to extend thanks to Kim (@superbloomin), Jade (@muffin.makes), Jadriene (@skeinstudios) & Shenny (@wobbleblobbe) who helped me test and edit this pattern. ♡
Again, no refunds will be issued if you buy this listing thinking that it is a physical product. Please read the description in full; thank you. <3
