In December 2016, a messy bun hat started taking Facebook by storm. I had to make one for myself, and found I just had to put my own spin on it. Based on a hat I’d created in 2014, this pattern is stretchy and versatile for buns and high ponytails. But because not everyone wants a hole in their hat, I’ve included a pattern for a complete beanie as well. Since first releasing the original patterns for the adult-size Jackie Frost Bun Hat & Beanie, I’ve added a youth-size bun hat and adult- and youth-sized Jackie Frost Bulky Bun Hats. In the near future I anticipate an updated pattern to include all patterns for the beanie, so please stay tuned!

Heartland yarn or other medium weight yarn; bulky weight for the Jackie Frost Bulky patterns
Size H crochet hook
elastic hair tie (for bun hat)
