Jackman the Koala
Originally made as a gift for my 5-year-old nephew (who chose the colors), Jackman was the first animal incorporated into the “Lightbulb Lovies” line. He was named for my favorite Ozzie actor and prefers Australian beer to eucalyptus.
He sits about 5 1/2” tall and is about 3 1/4” at his widest point. Using simple stitches and an “attach as you go” technique, this pattern works up quickly and uses very little sewing (I hate to sew). The example was worked using worsted weight cotton yarn, but you will get better results from a worsted weight acrylic, wool, or other similar fiber with good loft.
Supplies needed to complete project:
worsted weight yarn -- about 75 yards of color A (body), about 5-10 yards of color B (accents on ears and limbs), a few yards of color C (nose)
size G-6 (4.0 mm) crochet hook
yarn needle
stitch markers or lengths of scrap yarn (highly recommended)
small amounts of yarn, embroidery floss or other embellishments as desired
The pattern will be emailed to you in .pdf format within 48 hours of confirmed payment. I am usually able to get patterns out within a few hours of purchase, but I never know what my internet connection is going to do.
About my work:
Any pattern I design and post here is my property. Please do not duplicate my patterns for any reason especially to sell. Instead, please link to my blog or to the pattern page when referencing one of my patterns.
You are more than welcome to offer finished items made from my patterns for sale. I see no reason why you should not profit from your hard work. However, I’d really appreciate it if you gave me credit for the design; please reference my blog or the pattern page.
If you do make any of my patterns, I’d love to see your finished items; please take a moment to email pictures to me.
