This cowl is created with a Jacobite Rose Square. The white rose represented the exiled King James and was a secret symbol of the Jacobite cause. This small white rose that grows all over Scotland was an emblem of Bonnie Prince Charlie in Jacobite times, but is still an emblem of Scotland today. This crocheted cowl, made of three Jacobite Rose Squares with added borders, was created in Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Worsted (50g/123yds/112m) in colors Gold Spun (A-21g required), Highland Fleece (B-18g required), and Earth Ivy (C-70g required). Of course the square could also be used for blankets, scarves, or shawls, and each square needs 7g (A), 6g (B), and 12g(C).
